Satchmode – Old Fears

Satchmode

Few songs so easily slip into consciousness as this one from L.A. duo Satchmode. They are fresh out of the blocks and appear unencumbered with having to sound like anyone else apart from themselves. The result is their debut track called ‘Old Fears’ that recalls Mylo but somehow shorn of his more pronounced edges. Their name could be a play on Louis Armstrong’s nick and it would be a nice fit given the smooth connection between vocals and music that Satchmode have achieved here. At 3:43 it somehow feels short but then this is a song that is ripe for interrogation from the best remixers out there. It proves to be one of the songs of the year no and is already nestling in our end of year retrospective due out in early December. What a wonderful world it is. KD

That is a bit of a gem! I can hear lots of influences in there but it really stands out as a song on its own.
