Dump Your CD’s; It’s Time To Look At Sync Licensing

Louise Connell of Reverie

The dreaded dusty box full of unsold CDs taking up space in the dark recesses of your garage is something that most bands will sadly have to contend with. The chances that these media containing plastic discs will ever find their way into the hands of a marketing executive on the lookout for the perfect piece of music to soundtrack his latest TV campaign are close to nil. Of course the internet has come along and changed things slightly, offering a more level playing field and in the process offering the opportunity for bands like Reverie to get in front of ears that would normally be trained about a million miles away. TuneCore sync licensing is just one of a scattering of online options available for bands to get onto TV, gaming, movies and adverts as sync licensing allows them to get their compositions on a database that is accessible to the movers and shakers in the entertainment industry searching for the perfect ditty.

Such is the cute factor of ‘Get To Know Me’ that it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to have it cooing softly in the background as Zooey Deschanel inhabits a state of dreamy meditation. Similarly, and given that Louise Connell of Reverie is from Airdrie, it would be equally at home on one of those airy yet slightly exaggerated adverts about holidaying in Scotland. The album it is taken from is positively ancient now having been released in 2010 but ‘Melodies‘ is a boon for brightening up many of life’s sweet moments. In the process it could illustrate how music licensing can be another viable way to bring an artist to the world. KD

Thanks for the post! Very interesting.
When you follow the link to bandcamp, the band seems to be called Reverieme, not Reverie.

Yep you are right Michael. Seems like a lot of other blogs have made the same mistake so let’s not disturb this unwelcome trend!
