Such an acoustic dreamy swirl, experimental to a degree but forever easy on the ear. And that voice is velvet soft, broken character though he may be as the narrative shows us the life and drama of an everyman. ‘I’ve Only Gone’ is songwriting from days gone by with a meticulous attention to detail. Recorded in midwinter by a pair of brothers from Chicago I think we’ve found our perfect piece of quiet escapism with the noise and bluster of the holidays approaching. KH
