David Hopkins – Irresponsible

Such an easy jazz feel, so subtle and very retro in so much as the arrangements are positively glowing. Reminds me of a cross between Gilbert O’Sullivan and Sufjan Stevens but the real clue is in a singer who was once an essential part of Dublin’s very own LiR. They were going to be the next big thing, they even had the songs to do it but for one reason or another it didn’t pan out. So here he is many moons later making music that is even better, quite simply sumptuous and ‘Irresponsible’ is not the only movement from debut album ‘Overlook’ that will blow you over. Now that’s what I call a second coming. KH
