Youth In A Roman Field – I Saw You

What a set of string laden plummage, a voice (Claire Wellin) to steady the flapping dynamics and a giddy assortment of changing harmonies to turn a stone heart a lighter shade of pink. Youth In A Roman Field have been featured here before but even knowing what they are capable of doesn’t prepare you for the surprises on ‘I Saw You’. It’s a throwback to sixties girl-groups/Amadeus/and whatever you are having for breakfast, lunch and tea. Wellin mostly writes the tunes on the violin, which probably explains why this NYC based 6-piece are unlike anything else in indie pop today. KH
