Oslo Oscillator – Newlands

A moniker to catch the eye (and it was Stereolab’s Le Boob inspired) and a chiming chord to catch the ear. Yep, ‘Newlands’ boasts a genuine 90’s aesthetic with more than a little Teenage Fanclub circa ‘Grand Prix’ driving proceedings at its most honeyed moments. And this Norwegian act conspire to imagine lots of them, cascading forwards on a bed of chiming chords and those fey boy vocals from Kåre Eriksen. It’s been done before but rarely have newer bands added an aching sense of themselves to proceedings like here. Means that Oslo Oscillator’s debut LP ‘City Nomads’ should be a thing of joy. KH
