When you get to my vintage everything, more or less, starts to sound the same. That’s probably mostly down to the niche I’ve steadfastly adhered to. Yep, 90’s inspired indie rock, dreampop and shoegaze can still afford a deeper meaning and this is the evidence. Doesn’t happen that often though so it seems to me that Brooklyn outfit UV RAYS have tapped into something more crucial here, virulent and retro but also boasting the throbbing heart of youthful exuberance. Erica Warner’s vocals channel that vibrant Lush sound of yore, amid fireworks from all around which make for joyful company. KH
