Of late electronica has been losing its way. There are still good things coming from the like of Four Tet, Caribou and dare I say it Thom Yorke yet the momentum that was billowing about the scene a couple of years ago seems to have been lost. It’s a nice surprise then to discover the London quartet known as the Chap. ‘Auto Where To’ is at once an ode to the best chilled out album ever and also a demonstration of how the schizophrenic numbers can sometimes be the ones that provide the most entertainment. You see besides the intricate riff there is a hotchpotch of action happening around the edges, whether it be the gentle vocal rumblings or the hesitant drumming that someone finds its purpose towards a feisty climax that will truly rattle your cage.
