Great Northern – Home

This is easy on the ear and sometimes there is nothing more enjoyable that a good old lobe tickle. It comes from Great Northern, a quartet from LA who boast a dreamy sound that is high on open plan soundscapes that’ll sweep up anyone who comes within earshot. With a new album ‘Trading Twilight for Daylight’ out next month they could soon become the soundtrack for the upcoming summer months for that is where their music will ultimately flourish. ‘Home’ is superbly produced (Mathias Schneeberger) giving a grand sense of occasion but much praise must go to Solon Bixler and Rachel Stolte who breathe majesty into the piece through wave after wave of shimmering vocals. Great Northern are currently on tour with Loney, Dear. KD
