Amusement Parks on Fire are an enticing prospect at any time of the year but their dreamy visceral soundscapes are perfectly suited to Christmas. The band started out in Nottingham 3 years ago and their journey has seen them swell from Michael Ferrick’s one man show to a bulging 5-piece via recording stints in Prague and rural Iceland. The latter adventure brought them to Sigur Ros’s studio which is housed in an old swimming pool in a forest 30 minutes from Reykjavik. The location and Ferrick’s natural shoegaze affinities inspired the band’s delightful sophomore ‘Out of the Angeles’. ‘The Day It Snowed’ is taken from the Izumi Records compilation ‘It’s Not Like Christmas’ released last year. The song has a dreamlike quality with Feerick’s vocal humming adding to what is already a rich swirling delight.KD
