I had to slip this in before the grey clouds and endless precipitation threatens to spoil the remaining half hour of sun we have left. Belgium’s Girls in Hawaii have already let us in on one of the best chorus’s of the year but now they give us instances of seasonal dabbling (hey, listen to those bells towards the end) and more reasons to think that Europe can easily approximate that East Coast sound. This makes me smile (!) quite a lot and has me reminiscing about Grandaddy at their peak when a sad lush sound poured from them so effortlessly. Drop your critical defences and bath in the beauty of these melodies. It’s enough to have you forgetting the continual tap tap from that nearby window. KD
