Without ever thinking about putting out an official release Danielle Johnson (aka Danz from Brooklyn) has been recording and giving her songs away for free since about the middle of last year. Of course it’s a premeditated game, knowing as she does that getting heard these days takes a good internet presence, plenty of free invitations to sample the goods and a single promo photo showing our cute protagonist looking confused and in awe of the world around (c.f. Little Boots). And it works very well because songs like ‘Running’, while slight, have the means to arch eyebrows well beyond her natural web dwelling. Could be Danz, Danz, Danzing on the radio before too long. KD
