High Highs – Flowers Bloom

Got that vinyl rub about it, that intended pop and crackle, so ‘Flowers Bloom’ attracts grey haired people on the lookout for vestiges of the sound from their youth. But High Highs are a perfectly new proposition as exemplified by the first cover they’ve attempted by Wild Nothing. This is our second time to be charmed by the New York pair in the last couple of months but this time they’ve swapped obvious indie pop overtures for something a bit more tangible. It works really well because ‘Flowers In Bloom’ is still a sweet effort. Their debut album will be with us any day now and our hopes are set to high (squared). KD
