All the best bands come from down under these days don’t they? At least it seems that way and compared to just a handful of years back it is a positive antipodean explosion. This time Brisbane act the Oyster Murders and their grand indie anthems that have taken our fancy. Despite only forming 2 years ago they have a fine showcase of free songs for download from their soon to be released debut LP. ‘Signs’ is particulary noteworthy, all glimmering guitars and soaring vocals that boast regret in a most ambitious way. They’ve admitted they take their cue from Danish band Mew and on this evidence they could soon have their own impressive catalogue of comforting sounds. KD
