The glow of ‘Melody A.M.’ still surrounds Röyksopp (they are Northern lights after all) despite the fact that it is a decade old this year. The album produced a succession of hits for the Tromsø duo (who were lumped in with that remarkable Bergen Wave scene around the turn of the century) and succeeded in selling over a million copies. ‘Eple’ remains their calling card, a looping piece of electronica with a taste for alien lifeforms and their attendant communication style it is highly distinctive from the opening salvo. Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland remain a vital creative force and only last year delivered the surgically administered by laser guided robots known as ‘The Drug‘. KD
