There’s no doubting that Noel Heroux of Hooray For Earth is informed by the 1980’s. How else can you explain the synth laden, partially digitised vocals and that huge belter of a chorus on new single ‘Never’. In truth it is in keeping with what has previously been produced by the New York based act and once again even though influences are apparent the outcome is a genuine triumph. So much so that fans of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark et al would probably pardon and embrace the nugget. For everyone else ‘Never’ is a decent contender for electro song of the year. KD
