We thought we had lost them to the sea of ordinariness but little did we know that Liverpool’s Clinic were clinging on for dear life, plotting a comeback to rival that of their incendiary early selves. Mark II includes all the features that distinguished this charmingly odd band in the beginning but they’ve certainly taken their foot off the peddle. That’s not to say that any of the intrigue has been removed, they are still their distinctive selves and on last years’ ‘Free Reign’ LP they sound invigorated. ‘Misty’ is the multi-plotted wonder that opened the album and came complete with long shadows that rustle with intent. Hope they never free themselves of distortion. KD
