If you know the Jesus & Mary Chain (or the Brian Jonestown Massacre for that matter) you’ll know this song even though there is no connection apart from the fact that it sounds very much like them. And after such awkward articulation you feel like sitting down may I suggest you turn to the Black Hollies new LP called ‘Somewhere Between Here and Nowhere’ which is one of the nicest fuzzed out psychedelic rock rides of the year. A casual read of their instruments reads like a what’s what of the retro band’s dream kitchen ““ namely the Wurlitzer 200A, Melotron, Farfisa Combo Compact, Epiphone Sheraton and the downright cherisable Echoplex. That said it takes a little more than all of the above to sound this good. KD
