Portrait of Tao – Back and Forth

Even though it operates from an acoustic stance there is a rigour to ‘Back and Forth’ and it had me thinking of Christmas when I first sat down to the ‘Holdovers’ movie which was chock full of tracks like of this one from Portrait of Tao. And the way this debut record from Austria’s Fabian Holoubek has been turned out it wouldn’t have been out of place is such gilded company. Sure ‘Back and Forth’ is retro steeped but it has been sumptuously crafted and in a manner that means we can return time and again and feel that same first time warm and fuzzy feeling. KH
