Now that is a bass line I could get behind, the sort with dark intentions and a groove that indie rock needs to hone on in again. Add in a singer who knows how to stir the pot herself and ‘Give It Up’ becomes a strut with the most that reminds of Garbage/Veruca Salt/Elastica and a slew of other classic 90’s acts who were as much about the swagger as the music. I can see this finding favour in the indie student discos because it is loose limbed and ready to strike at a moment’s notice. KH
