Cowbell goes down well in these parts and General Wolf Department incorporate said underused instrument right the way through ‘FATBOY (Zero sum game PT 1)’ so we were instantly encouraged to enter a state of rhapsody. Not only that but there is a groove here that works its retro fantastic post-disco fashion to such an extent it feels like the perfect accompaniment to any occasion that verges to towards party inevitability. And all done in a quirky style that means you can get under the hood and find depth to reward return visits. Not mere likeable, this is lovable escapism from this Southend on Sea act. KH
