Great Horned Owl – Annie, I’m Leaving (feat. Marissa Nadler)

What a romantic old soul this track is, reminded me a lot of the Swell Season and ‘Annie, I’m Leaving’ wouldn’t have been out of place in that Oscar winning movie ‘Once’ as a result. Doesn’t ask a whole lot of us either, all we got to do is surrender our grown-up dedication to showing a hard exterior and instead just go with the gentle flow of this boy/girl (Vanderson Langjahr and Marissa Nadler) entourage who appeared to have it all worked out, until they didn’t. Such is the path to never-lasting true love and there is such a sweetness to that fatal romantic flaw that it gives this ballad an ever great sense of destiny. KH
