I have probably said it in connection with Slung before but they do tend to lean into a slowcore way of being, the sort that reminds of Low and all the majesty that such associations evoke. ‘Heavy Duty’ really is an emotional rollercoaster, a descriptive of a relationship not only on the rocks but firing one of the parties into a near seizure worth of outpourings. Nobody is left in any doubt as to the feelings that are demonstrated by this Brighton troupe and in the process we get to witness one of the most impressive anti-lovesongs of the year. KH
