Crikey for one second I read World Party, that Karl Wallinger project that I always found slightly too cerebral but endlessly interesting at the same time. And Texas’ Wild Party are nothing if not the contagious type, not least because they have a lot of heft to their sentiments but also, and more crucially, really interesting ways in which to say them. ‘Karl Kuhlman’ is a perfectly experimental but the key is that it maintains a melodic line and a bursting at the seams rush of vocal endorphins periodically.
