Great Horned Owl – Longyear

For me Great Horned Owl’s (Portland based Vanderson Langjahr) greatest gift is their ability to channel melancholy through the prism of hope and valour. So while we know things are at a lowly point you just know that chances are that there will happy ever after’s delivered before long. ‘Longyear’ is a delicate little cherub that shows the tell-tale movements of someone with the spark to move beyond crippling pessimism. So the rest of us are given hope and we’re also offered an anthem that is a reality check but also a beacon for the inevitable parting of the dark clouds. KH
