‘Monkey With A Hammer’ arrives intact but having suffered something so central to its inner resolve it is a wonder it is capable of summoning these grandiose indie rock flourishes. ‘Monkey With a Hammer’ is quite simply a huge opus that might be characterised by deep set melancholy but there is architecture here to rank alongside the great mountain ranges of the world. In short it feels alive, the moment before and after the volcano but with no threat to human life. Remarkable stuff from the purest human emotions. KH
