Blankslate – Idaho

I don’t want to get too excited with Blankslate as we’re only two songs into their new LP ‘Lookout Mountain Charley’ but my god so far so brilliant. ‘Idaho’ is an example of their breezy summer fuelled numbers that are high on harmonic intent but also on this occasion an indefatigable degree of the soundtrack to the best summer ever. From early on I was determined to just sit back and enjoy the melodic sunshine. A little of the Polyphonic Spree in the way things go supernova, perhaps some Arcade Fire too, but by then I had booked a one-way ticket to join this Denver duo among the stars. KH
