Eli Carvajal – Scar

There is a joviality, a mischievousness and a lightness of being to’ Scar’ that only folk can deliver. Eli Carvajal produces something that reminded me of Damien Rice but with the direction of travel most definitely in uplift territory. A simple kind of arrangement, acoustic but bubbling over with a precocious understanding of the human condition and the ritual of life’s milestones (the artist is edging towards 30). A song that feels like it has soul, one that can be redeployed with no degradation of impact for 39th, 49th… birthdays. KH
