What a plume of noise ‘Dune’ does make, the kind that brought me right back to the dreamgaze days of the early nineties. So we’re thinking the Cocteau Twins for the most part because the ethereal dimension reigns supreme despite the intoxicating array of noise, feedback and percussive montages happening all around. Thai three-piece Pyr are all still at college and face tough competition because of the sound they make but this is not a song built on a house of sand, no it has the capacity to rise imperiously and into a million hearts. Retro grandeur, shoegaze may yet have one more trick up its sleeve. KH
