Boston’s Tiberius are the kind of band I typically clear the decks for because you just know they offer up so much of themselves. So amid the fragments of post-rock lays a scattering of broken dreams and those of us who are similarly put together can recognise the signs. Tiberius however have a way to soothe, a drop of the shoulder (in football parlance) that sees their words shift up/down a gear in a millisecond and something so vulnerable suddenly becomes more like a guiding light. Probably one of the few acts around that I’d take in over an LP because they are just so nuanced. ‘Painting of a Tree ‘ needs to seep in and then it can work its magic. Splendid. KH
