Stray Planets – Artificial Love

The sort of opening that reminded of the great electronic innovators of the eighties, like Jean Michel Jarre, but Stray Planets (John Butler and co.) bring more to the table too. And it comes in that existential crises filled vocal line that just puts into words what we’ve all been feeling as technology and science leave us light headed and in need of someone to make sense of it all for us. Not sure that happens here but there is a sense of exhilaration in having ‘Artificial Love’ around the place all the same. What sealed it for me was the movement into prog at times and a hint of Midlake that made for a melange of futuristic folk as a result. KH
