There is no doubt there is a form of falling down about the way Connecticut’s Cliff Root go about their business and I sure am ok with such things because when we get to meet a personality like this every now and then you have to sit up and notice. But more than that ‘Summer Sands’ has a glow and a twinkle in its eye that screams vitality on record to me and that is a rarity these days. Nostalgia it seems is all they cracked it up to be, on this evidence anyway. Rough around the edges, smooth where it matters and reminding of ‘Bring it On’ by the venerable Gomez. KH
