A song that rather staggers into our life, calmer though than expected once we got to grips with this age old romantic at the controls. The vocals quite reminded me of Jonathan Donahue and Blankslate prove themselves to have access to a quality bank of songwriters going by the way ‘Lamp Post Hearts’ turns out. It is emotional bulging-hearted folk material and the sort that comes with a hopeful brand of melancholy. This is an unexpected and very welcome lift from Denver’s Tess Condron and Rylee Dunn. KH
