Post Hype – Old Story

There is a big and slightly unwieldy manner to ‘Old Story’, the playing just pushes that kind of ramshackle effect. The combination with a singer who sounds like he has a bit of mournful narrative to impart does make for a fairly cosmic combination though. NYC’s Post Hype have produced something that feels like it might fall apart at any stage but is so beautifully balanced it was never going to happen. I was reminded of Mercury Rev here but the wasted elegance has a personality all of its own too. KH
