Clearlake – Good Clean Fun

Clearlake are currently recording their yet untitled 4th album. With the departure of founding member Sam Hewitt goodness knows how it will sound but if they maintain their steady progression it should be something to behold. Clearlake are a quintessential English band (Bluresque in some respects) with an expansive palette of sounds in their canon. Early single ‘Don’t Let The Cold In’ signalled their burgeoning talent and Jason Pegg’s distinctive ye olde English vocals but it wasn’t until their 3rd LP ‘Amber’ came out in 2006 that they truly flourished. If you are partial to a bit of ‘Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia’ era Dandy Warhols you should adore ‘Good Clean Fun’ with its churning guitars, machine gun beats and neat psychedelic edges. A band well worth dipping your toes in then. KD
