The Flying Change are that neatest of prospects, a band in full control of the instruments they play. As it happens only songwriter Sam Jacobs is a permanent member and his guests are carefully selected so that tunes like ‘If You See Something, Say Something’ can be given the studied treatment they deserve. And what a beautifully laconic charm it possesses beneath the lavish presentation and carefully intertwining male/female vocals. It’s taken from the Flying Change’s latest album ‘Pain Is A Reliable Signal’ which was borne out the excruciating and so far incurable back pain suffered by Jacobs’ spouse. KD
