Stina Stjern – The Horizon

Louise Wener of Sleeper was famous for proclaiming her band to be just another female fronted outfit. Chart success meant that they were a bit more than that but Wener’s sense of understatement was admirable. You could see where she was coming from as the mid 90’s was a particularly strong time for indie rock queens. And that’s where the altogether more contemporary Scandinavian Stina Stjern would have really put down roots for her ballsy attitude was de rigeur at the time. ‘The Horizon’ is an incendiary mix of precise vocals and a mass of tumbling chords that would surely offer a suitable climax for her shows.
