cfit – Base Isolation
You’ve heard me saying it before and no doubt I’ll be beating the indie drum again for one of the best Irish albums I’ve heard over the last few years. ‘Triage’ by multi-habited Dublin band cfit has created some ripples back home in Dublin but deserves a much wider audience. To date we’ve reached inside and pulled out about half-a-dozen individual gems and ‘Base Isolation’ is the next instalment. The wide-eyed appeal is in the song writing which veers between classic song structure to rampant experimentation. It’s probably the latter that throws most off the scent but it bolsters each of the tunes on ‘Triage’ with a sense of adventure that rewards the patient. Let’s hope cfit won’t be distracted from realising their vision by the general apathy because they have the potential to be genuine world beaters. KD
