Husky – History’s Door
This Melbourne band came to prominence after they entered ‘History’s Door’ into an country wide song competition and ended up scooping the prize. Certainly not an obvious choice for such contests but then Australia has been setting itself up as one of the more prolific places to find interesting new music of late. ‘History’s Door’ has a charasmatic shuffle, one that threatens to derail before hitting paydirt on its mighty chorus. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed outside of the Southern Hemisphere either, with Husky becoming the first Australian band to sign to Sub Pop. Remarkable stuff really, but ‘History’s Door’ quiet charm signals a quartet with the potential to take on the world. KD
