Big in Canada but not so much on this side of Atlantic but my what we have been missing going by Shad’s raptastic (spoken by an indie head with no idea about rap or hip-hop) ‘Fam Jam (Fe Sum Immigrins)’ from new album ‘Flying Colours’ (his 4th). This is a song with a big message but while that can often bog down the good times it just augments these deliciously melodious few minutes. There are no swear words or controversial angles just a gifted musician telling his life story within the framework of a ditty that has so much crossover appeal it might even get an aged jangler looking at a genre he thought off limits up to this point. Magic fills the air. KD
