Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi – Black

Blacksters

You can probably now tell where we’re at in terms of our nightly viewing thanks to this song which so perfectly contrasted with the mayhem and countless twist and turns of the preceding visuals. Would never have guessed who it was by and that’s even with a sneaking regard for the chanteuse in question Norah Jones. The song is taken from a collaborative effort called ‘Rome’ which saw Italian composer Daniele Luppi teaming up with that true chameleon Danger Mouse. The premise of ‘Rome’ (and the title is a little bit of a red herring in that respect) is the conjuring up of the sound of the spaghetti western of yore. The participants shipped in lots of vintage equipment to restore this sound and though ‘Black’ is faultlessly produced you can just picture vestiges of squinting eyes, sweating brows and a bag full of double crossings.
