Not a British band, despite what you might deduce from their music, but a Paris 3-piece who appear to have taken just about the right combination of old influences and mixed them with their own contemporary bag of magic dust. ‘Joey’ is all jangly and sweet vocals with a gorgeous hiccup at just the right moments. It goes full scale Cocteau Twins in the second half but by then you may well be on the floor thanking the heavens for such a heavenly sound. It really is faultless and the perfect introduction to Agua Roja’s recent self-titled debut EP. Thank your iceblink luck you’ve found them. KD
