A clear distillation of what pure pop should sound like, in a world where autotune and toxic overproduction are not just things employed to haunt the children’s daytime nightmares. ‘City of Love’ is lucid, faintly 80’s in its synth approach but almost certainly going to be a success thanks to a singer whose talent is obvious and most of all so outwardly generous in its warm embrace.
