Mascott – Kite

Her last album ‘Dreamer’s Book’ may be over 3 years old but Kendall Jane Meade has not given up on her Mascott project. Lucky too because there is something to be cherished in Meade’s approach. While her wispy singing may take centre stage it’s hard not to nod admiringly in the direction of the jangling chords she can conjure. Take ‘Kite’ as a pristine example of her talent and you’ll realise that her decision to stop adding background coos to Sparklehorse was a solid one. Hardly surprising then that the NYC girl had an entry on one of those impressive early OC soundtracks. Her fragile outpourings work seamlessly in tandem with the gentle playing on ‘Kite’ making it hard to dislike and very easy to get enchanted by. KD
