More Joy Division minus the doleful undertows from another tiny space in downtown Brooklyn. Yep, this could be the opening line for a thousand blog posts but not many come with sonic devices as brazen and flirty as Beach Fossils ‘Calyer’. The track is taken from their yet unreleased ‘What A Pleasure’ EP (which was originally pencilled in for today) which also have a contribution from Wild Nothing’s Jack Tatum. Seems like a marriage made in heaven, involving a mix of fuzzed up haze and a dollop of sparkling jangle sparking a series of legal highs. And this is only the start of a juggernaut of fine retrospection. KD
