The biggest fault with ‘Birdsong’ is that it is over too quickly but then much of Powerdove’s output is of short duration. As timeless as a wind chime (and by the sounds of it including them) ‘Birdsong’ is the work of Annie Lewandowski (and a host of good connections from her travels through the industry down the years) and served to close off her ‘Powerdove’ EP of last year (free download on bandcamp). Now for someone who doesn’t have the patience to sit through a Joanna Newson record this EP proved to be the perfect alternative (harp/fragile vocals). ‘Birdsong’ didn’t take much getting used to as it immediately click with my addled head, such a comfort blanket for the distracted it is an unparalleled oasis of calm.
