Could be that the least thing pretty about Tandem Felix is their name. Better to not concern yourself with it and instead focus on the lusciousness of their music. Their album ‘Tweedledee’ appears to have been released as far back as 2009 but can now be scooped up for fresh air on bandcamp. And what a delight it proves to be. A cushion of light jangle with an ever present dreampop vocal was always something that would go down well round ours and the fact that the quartet come from Dublin makes it even more uplifting. I’m reminded of those early Verve EP’s (some Radiohead too), redolent in their psychedelic smokescreens and Richard Ashcroft’s distant vocals. This is genuinely magical stuff, hear for yourself on ‘Canyon’ and ‘Autumnal’ which bookend ‘Tweedledee’. KD
