Sounds like it should be playing in the reception of the main drink emporium at a white sandy resort doesn’t it? Yep and you your Lei wearing self could just afford a slinky hip movement such is its soporific charms. Its maker is Canadian artist Mac DeMarco who has found himself and his sophomore album ‘Salad Days’ on Captured Tracks, the home for vintage rather than facsimile sounding classics. ‘Blue Boy’ is founded on a terrific slacker jangle and DeMarco’s slightly distant and indistinguishable vocals. For all we know he could be telling us about the sad tale of a very cold little urchin but we’re instead we’re selfishly focused on grabbing the last remaining deckchair. KD
