A spoken word record the way Bing Crosby used to do it but entirely moved to a contemporary setting with a low-slung guitar backdrop that will tend to your indie needs. Storytelling then but it is never quite possible to ascertain whether there’ll be a happy ending, it’s the hope that sustains us though. Rafa Selase offers warmth, not afraid to topple sacred cows or indeed prejudice. ‘Mama You Never Told Me, Part 1’ is building up for what should be some sequel. KH
