The Family Knife – Leave Me Sleeping

Set your volumes to max to truly discover how big this track is. With a little nod to the Byrds but mostly Teenage Fanclub at their peak bandwagonesqueness this is blissed out psych of the highest order. ‘Leave Me Sleeping’ is the title track from Dublin’s the Family Knife’s debut LP (releasing early 2019) and it sure does operate in fuzzed-up retro surrounds. Could well be a lo-fi varnish but it sounds utterly appropriate with the result that only a cut to vinyl will do it justice. And if that wasn’t enough the Family Knife see fit to include an outro that eclipses all that precedes it. KH
